Holy Brush Iconography,
The traditional Eastern, Orthodox, Russian, Greek and Byzantine icons are written/painted on canvas and wrapped on thick natural wood. To prevent cracks on the natural wood due to climate changes, and to preserve the image, the wood is wrapped on canvas before painting over-it. Usually none of these icons are framed. The thickness of the wood gives the icon a modern and authentic look.
We choose to have the same principle as the traditional icons by respecting nature and its resources. We have taken a green approach by using recycled wood. And to give the best look and finish to our icons, we use the best modern technique of Giclée on Canvas. We wrap the canvas over a piece of thick wood, without frame to give the same look of the traditional icons. All of our icons are signed copyrighted and have a certificate of authenticity from the iconographer Chady Elias. Proudly, all of our icons are handmade to order in the USA by the artist himself.
